Sports and recreational facilities at Hněvkovského Street (Sportovně-rekreační areál Hněvkovského)

This multi-purpose sports facility, located between Hněvkovského Street and the Svratka River, offers a number of sports options. There is a football pitch, home to FC Sparta Brno, BMX race tracks, and a rental and a repair shop for inline skates. A former boiler house was converted to a sports club with both indoor and outdoor climbing walls, ping-pong tables, a skate park, Arrow Game, three tennis courts, and two multi-purpose pitches for ball games from five-a-side football to basketball.

All the sports grounds are equipped with lighting. An on-site observation tower, reconstructed from a chimney, offers some interesting views. A traditional student festival called Majáles takes place in the large free spaces, and sometimes there are circus tents. You can get there by buses 40, 48, 63, or 67, or you can take tram 12, get off at the end stop, and walk for five minutes. The Brno-jih natural swimming pool is also located nearby, just across the river.
